CSA FAQS
What is a CSA?
The function of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program stays true to its name: the community supports its agricultural businesses. In a CSA, individuals purchase a “share” of the harvest in early spring, before the season begins. Then, throughout the growing season, members come to the farm each week to pick up their pre-purchased shares of freshly harvested vegetables. We believe COMMUNITY is at the heart of farming.

Are we Organic?
Gracie’s Farm uses regenerative farming practices. This means we put the health of the land and the soil above all else. We use no synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, instead taking cues from the natural world to manage our crops. We go above and beyond organic certification to produce the healthiest and most delicious crops, all while ensuring we care for the land above all else.

How big is a share?
We design the size of our CSA shares to match the typical eating habits of most people. Most weeks, the box will contain between 7 and 10 items. The goal is that the share can fulfill the produce you eat for a week, without supplemental trips to the grocery store. This is how you "eat what you have" rather than buy what you need for a recipe.

Where do I pick up?
Members can pick up their farmshare at Gracie’s Farm in Wanship, UT. Farm share pick up can occur Wednesdays or Fridays at the farm. We will ask that you choose a day upon signing up. If you need to change your pick up day, you can communicate with us during the season.

How long is the CSA season and what produce can I expect?
It runs for the months of June through October (Roughly 20 weeks).
Early season will be heavy on greens and baby root vegetables and each week of the season, more vegetables will be added as the temperatures warm and the days lengthen.

What do I do if I am going away for a week or two?
First, don't worry. We will try to be flexible! If you let us know in advance, we will do our best to work with you on the weeks that you will be gone. You can always give your share to a friend or family member for them to pick up in your stead. We can also donate your share to a food bank if you choose. Otherwise, we can try to work with you to provide weeks with some extra produce to make up for a missed box.

Are you guaranteed to get certain vegetables?
As always, mother nature is ultimately in charge and try as we might to work with her, there are some aspects of growing vegetable crops that are largely out of our control, especially in a high mountain environment. Every effort is made to produce the most delicious and beautiful produce available but inevitably there's something that doesn't work out quite like you expected. CSA members must be aware that nothing is guaranteed and crop availability can change at a moment's notice. This is what makes every season unique and keeps farmers on their toes.

What if I don't know how to cook a certain vegetable?
Along with your box each week, you will receive an emailed newsletter with recipes and meal preparation ideas to help you along the way. For us, cooking up the harvest is almost as exciting as growing it for you all, so feel free to ask us about recipes as well!

Will I know what we are getting each week?
Great question, YES! We will send a weekly email with a breakdown of what you will be receiving, along with a great recipe to help incorporate what's in the box into a meal.
